   Proposal Description:
   1. This study will look at which factors predict progression from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to Alzheimer???s disease (AD) compared to those that do not progress, and if this effect is moderated by sex and Apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotype using data from the National Alzheimer???s Coordinating Center database. Factors that are harmful or protective, such as medication use or medical history, likely differ by sex and APOE genotype. Examining the moderating effect of sex and APOE genotype in predicting progression from MCI to AD may identify specific protective and harmful factors within each sex and APOE genotype. This may lead to better treatment for those with MCI as well as identify new ways to prevent progression from MCI to AD. 2. The specific aim of this study is to determine how vascular risk factors (hyperlipidemia, hypertension, etc.), diabetes, and their treatment predict progression in those with MCI to AD compared to those that do not progress by sex and APOE genotype.
